Join us on our RV adventure as we continue our journey northward and arrive in beautiful Montana. Our destination: Flathead Lake, a stunning freshwater lake nestled near Flathead National Forest. Prepare to be amazed by the crystal-clear waters of this colossal lake, boasting a vast expanse of approximately 200 square miles! Upon reaching Flathead Lake, we secured a spot at the charming Wayfarers Campground, perfectly situated along the lake's edge. While the campground may be petite, its narrow and winding roads added an element of excitement as we skillfully maneuvered our 32ft Grand Design Imagine into our designated space, thankfully avoiding any tree-related mishaps! From our prime location, we had the pleasure of strolling to Flathead Lake, basking in the breathtaking sunset and indulging in panoramic views from the magnificent cliffs overlooking the water. We couldn't resist the temptation to experience the lake from a different perspective, so we ventured to a nearby beach and embarked on a paddleboarding adventure, adding an extra layer of enjoyment to our visit. In close proximity to the lake lies the delightful resort town of Bigfork, Montana. Its quaint downtown area greeted us with a collection of inviting pubs, art galleries, dining establishments, sweet shops, and a few upscale boutiques. Unfortunately, our timing led us to explore Bigfork on a Sunday, resulting in some closed doors. However, we did manage to acquire some delectable huckleberry preserves from Eva Gates Homemade Preserves, a local gem. With only four days to revel in this magnificent area before our onward journey to Glacier National Park, we confess that our explorations were somewhat limited. Regrettably, we missed the opportunity to paddleboard or kayak down the Flathead River, which comes highly recommended for both beginners and seasoned enthusiasts alike.
