Mr Anil Rawat interviewed the Chief Counsellor of Doon Defence Academy-Mr Meherban Singh Rawat. The Chief Counsellor introduces himself and recounts that he was designated as a Naval officer for 28 years. He says that the Coaching Classes for many courses are conducted here including NDA, AFCAT, OTA, SSC, CDSE, GD, XY Group, SSR, Merchant Navy and Coast Guard, SSC-CGL etc. From last to last year, DDA has been conducting a foundation course by the name of Pratham Pag. He goes on to tell the eligibility criteria for NDA and that one needs to be a 12th pass with PCM. For NDA, most of the questions are based on Maths, Physics and Chemistry and students from Commerce and Humanities backgrounds find it very tough to understand and solve them. For CDSE, one needs to be a graduate with any subject – Commerce, Humanities or Science. For NDA, the students who have not yet cleared their 12TH board exam can appear for their NDA. The age criteria is 16 and a half to 19 and a half but actually, the students can give their exams only if their age is between 15.5 to 18.5 years. For CDSE, the age criteria is 23 or 24 years. Everyone gets a chance through Agniveer and so this is a great opportunity for all as DDA makes sure that the training of the student in Agniveer should make him or her reach the eligibility criteria where he or she gets 100 per cent commissioned permanently even after those 4 years. He should be mentally and physically fit and meet all the eligibility criteria as given in terms of height and weight with no major ailment of physical problem or deformity. As regards the fee structure, one specific day is marked as the day for the fees to be deposited. The fee package for every course is different- NDA, CDSE, AFCAT, Foundation, OTA and Merchant Navy. If the individual gets himself or herself registered online by clicking on the registration link given on the DDA website, that student will be able to avail himself or herself of the fee structure pertaining to the previous year only. Without registration, the new fee structure will be applicable. If the student is unable to crack the NDA, the plan B for the candidate is to complete his graduation and crack the AFCAT or CDSE exam or go into NDA as a Jawan or the student can go into Merchant Navy. The candidate can also appear for IGBP, CSF, Coast Guard, BSF, Police, Railway police, Assam Rifle and other such related civil jobs because the age criteria are more relaxed. If the student prepares for NDA and cannot crack it, he can pursue it as a student free of cost at Sandeep Sir’s DDA within the validity of the time limit as prescribed (6 months or 1 year). For Foundation Course, 40 seats are there for 8, 40 seats for class 9 (boys). For girls, 40 seats are there in class 11t and 60 seats are there for class 11th boys.
