RESTORING ANTIQUE CHISEL !!

[EN] Apparently, this was a « boat scraper » (indicated by the anchor under the logo) from the brand « mutzig-framont » that existed between 1873 and 1932. I tried to find more information on this tool, and exactly what a « boat scraper » is, but none of them hade that exact shape. When cleaning it, i noticed that the quenching line is about 5cm behind the edge (we can see that the rust almost didn’t penetrate on this part). Since it really has a wood chisel shape, i restored it as so. The handle is olive wood, and the brass part of the handle is just a plumbing part. The black scales are G10. This tool apparently had a great first life and has been used a lot, considering how beat up it was. Now it’s ready for it’s second life ! [FR] Apparemment, il s'agissait d'un « grattoir à navires» (indiqué par l'ancre sous le logo) de la marque « mutzig-framont », qui a existé entre 1873 et 1932. J'ai essayé de trouver plus d'informations sur cet outil, et ce qu'est exactement un « grattoir à navires», mais aucun n'avait cette forme exacte. Lors du nettoyage, j'ai remarqué que la ligne de trempe est à environ 5 cm derrière le tranchant (on peut voir que la rouille n'a presque pas pénétré sur cette partie). Pour le restaurer, je me suis simplement laissé guider par sa forme d'origine. Le manche est en bois d'olivier et la partie en laiton du manche est un bouchon de plomberie. Les intercalaires noires sont en G10. Cet outil a apparemment eu une première vie riche, compte tenu du nombre de coups présents sur la lame. Il est maintenant prêt pour sa seconde vie !
