Las Vegas has changed a lot since casinos starting popping up in the 1950s, and modest hotels gave way to massive mega resorts that drastically changed the strip's skyline. One of the original Las Vegas resorts was the Sand's Hotel and Casino. It was the birthplace of the legendary Rat Pack and was the filming location for iconic movies like Ocean's 11, Viva Las Vegas, and Con Air. Join me in this video as we explore the story and the final fate of one the most impactful and iconic places in Las Vegas culture, and discover all the stars and their days with the Sands along the way. A big thank you to the UNLV Libraries for providing much of the content in this video and taking a lot of care in preserving the history of the Sands.
