If you find it hard to get started when you open your sketchbook - feel stiff, slow, unsure what to draw? This 2-Minute Art Hack is here to help! In this video, I share a timed sketching warm-up that artists use to train observation, loosen their hand and improve drawing confidence - quickly! The exercise is simple: Choose one object. Sketch it for 30 seconds. Then sketch the same object for 1 minute. Then again for 2 minutes. Changing the time limit, not the subject, helps you: Stop overthinking Focus on big shapes first Improve placement and proportion Warm up your eye–hand coordination Build a consistent sketching habit This kind of timed drawing practice is especially helpful for self-taught artists who feel stuck, overwhelmed by detail, or unsure how to practise effectively. At SMArt Art Academy, I teach drawing and painting differently from most tutorials. Instead of jumping straight to finished details, we focus on: Art fundamentals Learning how to see Simple, repeatable exercises Confidence-building habits that actually stick Want to build a regular sketching habit and actually understand what you’re doing when you draw? Join the SMArt Sketch Club for weekly sketching prompts, inspiration and monthly guidance - all designed to help you grow with confidence, not overwhelm. https://www.sumelville.com/sketch-club/ 👉 Subscribe to the channel for weekly 2-Minute Art Hacks 👉 Join the newsletter to go deeper and stay consistent https://linktr.ee/sumelville 👉 Watch next: another 2-Minute Art Hack to strengthen your foundations
