An Interview with Monica Lewinsky - The Executive Institute

In March 1998, Monica Lewinsky unwillingly was introduced to the world, when a Federal investigation into the financial affairs of the then President of the U.S.A. was widened to include the close relationship, she had with him. Overnight, at just 24 years of age, Monica went from being a private citizen to the world’s most public and ridiculed figure. The media attention and public comment that followed altered the course of Monica’s life, and she withdrew from ‘normal life’ for over ten years. In the intervening period, Monica was diagnosed as suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder but has shown great resilience, fortitude, and grace on her journey back. “You cannot run away from who you are or away from how you have been shaped by your experiences”- ( M. Lewinsky ~ Vanity Fair- March 2014) . Today, Monica is a Social Activist, who, concerned with the growth of cyberbullying and to help prevent others having an experience like herself, advocates for a safer social media environment. At this event, Monica will share insights drawn from personal experience on resilience, overcoming fear and getting the courage to take her life back. She will discuss the need for compassion and empathy in today’s world.(especially on social media).
