Perpetual e-Motion integrates technical and sonic innovations with old school traditions to create a enormous sound full momentum and groove. Lauded as a two man orchestra, this duo continues to innovate the art of traditional dance music through their use of sound sculpting and multitasking, captivating listeners and dancers with their infectious and unique sound. Wild Asparagus (http://www.wildasparagus.com/) Ann Percival (piano, guitar) David Cantieni (winds) (http://www.swallowtail.com/David.html) Becky Tracy (fiddle) George Marshall (concertina, bodhran) (http://www.swallowtail.com/george.html) Mark Murphy (string bass) Drawing upon music from New England, the British Isles, and Canada, as well as classical sources, Wild Asparagus takes an original approach to the traditional dance music of our folk heritage. Using their unique blend of instruments, creativity, and skills, they offer a sensitive and powerful performance. Since 1984, Wild Asparagus has been highly successful in bringing their music to dances and concerts throughout the United States. "Elixir" (http://www.elixirmusic.com/) Nils Fredland (trombone) (http://www.nilsfredland.com/) Ethan Hazzard Watkins (fiddle) (http://www.ethanhw.com/) Jesse Hazzard-Watkins (trumpet and flugelhorn) ........(http://www.myspace.com/jessehazzardwa...) Anna Patton (clarinet) (http://www.annapatton.com/) Owen Morrison (guitar and foot percussion) ........(http://www.myspace.com/owenmorrison) Expertly concocted and sure to cure what ails ya, Elixir brews up rich textures laced with rhythmic excitement as elegant melodies evolve into raucous riffs. Lush harmonies, yummy improvisations, and tasty rock and reggae-inspired themes weave in and out of traditional and original Irish, French Canadian, and New England tunes. Curiously refreshing! CAMERA: Canon S95, "HD" quality, auto settings. REMARKS: The Spanish Ballroom is a superb dance venue. Built in 1933 and restored in 2003, the art deco style ballroom has a wonderful, 7,700 SF sprung maple floor which can easily handle 6 lines of contradancers. Contrastock 2 was an all day contra dance event held with three great bands ("Wild Asparagus," "Perpetual e-Motion" & "Elixir") and three great callers (Nils Fredland, George Marshall and Will Mentor). This was the fourth or fifth dance of the last (combined band) set. Even after 8 hours of dancing, we still had four lines of dancers. What a Wonderful Great Day of dancing!
