There is a lot of variety between the many different vintage sewing machine motors, though the basic operation is the same. Some have motor brushes that can be accessed from the outside, some require disassembly to reach the brushes. Some motors, once you get inside, have a little door on the motor brush raceway, easy to get the brushes out. Some are solered in and require a soldering iron to get them out.. Lots of other little differences, but once you understand how it all works to make the motor go, it's not hard to figure out each one's eccentricities.
