Another episode of the documentary series City Spaces, where this time we come to Amsterdam to tell a bit more about a unique and special place called Kaskantine located in the city. Kaskantine is portrayed in this episode (but also in its original concept) of being the perfect kind of public space, the utopian public space where activities like leisure or education, workshops, a complete learning community, is being created for everyone who wants to participate, at zero cost. The kaskantine is now in its fourth edition, having to move with each new edition due to the rapid growth and real estate boom in Amsterdam. Kaskantine 4.0 is a non-profit cooperative run by Menno Houtstra and Betty Gebhard and a host of volunteers from all walks of life.
