Thank you for watching. Below is a video introduction from Mr. B, the filmer. This video was filmed on the Tohoku Main Line, Ban'etsu West Line, and Ou Main Line on September 22nd and 23rd, 1984. The filming took place on the Tohoku Main Line at Kurokawa Bridge between Toyohara and Shirasaka, and between Shirakawa and Kutano. At this point, the Tohoku Shinkansen had not yet opened between Ueno and Omiya, so only express trains ran on branch lines to the Ban'etsu West Line and Ou Main Line. There were no more ordinary passenger trains from Ueno, and trains started from Kuroiso. From 06:08, the filming took place between Sekito and Kawageta on the Ban'etsu West Line. ED77 was pulling passenger cars in a double-headed operation, but the leading car was ED77 12 equipped with imperial carriages. This was taken by chance, as it was apparently used to pull an imperial train three days later. At 07:50, the footage was taken between Kitakata and Yamato, and the freight train is quite long. From 09:15, the footage is of what appears to be Itaya Station on the Ou Main Line. From 17:01, the footage is taken between Niwazaka and Akaiwa, and the passenger cars have already been converted to the 50 series. This footage was taken in 1984 using a Victor video camera GZ-S3 and a portable VHS video deck. #JNRED77 12-rail old passenger car #JNRED71 old passenger car #JNRDD51 old passenger car
