This video shows my refurbishment of the Ju88/Ju188 conversion which I built about seven years ago. It was originally finished as a reconnaissance aircraft of 1./Aufkärungsgruppe 33, but during the reworking of the model, it was changed to a bomber variant, operational with 1./Kampfgeschwader 2. The Revell kit is very good and a sound basis for making this conversion; the AIMS conversion set is multi-media, largely comprising resin parts but also including a PE fret and vacuformed transparencies. The bombs and bomb racks were taken from the 1/32 scale Revell Ju88A-4 variant and the nose-mounted MG151/20 cannon is a resin accessory from Aires. Photos exist of the actual aircraft after being found abandoned by US troops at Bron, near Lyon, in eastern France in September, 1944.
