Philadelphia, PA ---On Saturday, June 20th from 10AM-11AM EST several Philadelphia churches and pastors throughout the city, along with dozens of worshipers will come together and pray for healing and restoration in our city in a powerful demonstration of hope and faith. The event’s focus will be to pray for breakthrough in the aftermath of COVID-19 and racial division that has threatened to tear our city apart. Local pastors and participants will be standing together on the streets surrounding City Hall, praying and being present in a moment to cry out to God for the changes needed to move America’s Finest City from crisis to thriving in unity, growth and healing. Prayer is powerful in that we are able to call upon God in times of uncertainty and stand in faith for the future to come. A survey from 2018 revealed that one in five adults pray despite saying they are not religious (The Guardian). Prayer is not exclusive to the religiously affiliated, as prayer has been found to have profound health and psychological benefits. “People all over the world from different cultures, faiths, and backgrounds regularly pray.” (National Review) With social distancing measures still in place and to support the safety of all participants, individuals are encouraged to pray along streets that connect, while abiding by CDC and state guidelines, including wearing a face covering and keeping 6 feet apart. People can also participate from their home. Participants are discouraged from bringing signs of any sort, as this event is not a protest. WHEN: Saturday, June 20th, 10 a.m. - 11 a.m EST LOCATION: Philadelphia City Hall, 1401 John F Kennedy Blvd, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania 19134 with participants to spread to connecting/surrounding streets.
