However, they come from a context which seems to have been formed in 1650-1660, during the construction of the wharf. From Venice or the island of Murano in the Venice Lagoon, from a context on the Commercial Wharf site probably dating to c1668. These are known as 'star', chevron or rosetta beads & complete necklaces can be seen on display in museums around the world.
