Today we are looking at the second oil analysis on my 2026 Ram Rebel with the Hurricane engine. If you have been following along you know I am following the Motor Oil Geeks break in procedure which calls for oil changes at 500 miles 1500 miles 3000 miles and 5000 miles before switching to a normal interval. The first oil change at 600 miles showed elevated wear metals which is expected during initial break in. Aluminum iron copper and silicone were all higher than universal averages which confirmed that early oil change was probably the right call. Now at 1775 miles we have the second Blackstone report. The results are very interesting. Aluminum is cut in half compared to the first sample. Iron is cut in half. Copper dropped significantly and is now within normal range. Silicone is under control and fuel dilution is not present. Viscosity remains in spec for 0W20. In other words the wear trend is moving exactly how you would want it to move in a healthy new engine. So far the Hurricane looks strong from a wear metals standpoint. The real test will be once values stabilize and we begin comparing longer intervals and potentially different viscosities. I am also considering building a dedicated oil analysis database on my website where owners can upload and compare reports by engine year and model.
