***We plan to make more projects. Support at https://make-it-plain.org/nobody-can-... To mark 100 years since Malcolm's birth @MakeItPlain1964 and @MichaelEllisFilms present 'Nobody Can Give You Freedom: The Real Mission of Malcolm X. Kehinde Andrews takes you on a journey, based on his book of the same name, to bust the myths surrounding Malcolm and to pick up his true legacy. Starting in Birmingham, where Malcolm visited just 9 days before he was killed, he speaks to his parents Carole and Maurice Andrews about the impact of Malcolm on Black Power in Britain. He then travels down to the London School of Economics, to the Old Theatre, the site of one of Malcolm's last international speeches, to speak to George the Poet Dr Olivia Rutazibwa about the relevance of Malcolm today. To uncover Malcolm's true mission, we travel to Harlem, to the neighbourhood where Malcolm became the figure we remember today to visit the archives at Columbia University and for his first visit to the Malcolm X and Dr Betty Shabazz Memorial Centre, which is the old Audubon Ballroom, where Malcolm was killed. Here he interviews Malcolm's third daughter Ilyasah Shabazz, Dr Jared Ball, Marc Lamon HIll, Ben Crump, and JoAnna LeFlore-Ejike Returning to the UK, Kehinde highlights the work of Sayce Holmes-Lewis and Mentivity, and talks to a group of young people about the relevance of Malcolm today. None of this is an academic exercise. We are building Harambee OBU based on Malcolm's vision of the OAAU.
