On the second day of their agitation, thousands of mid-day meal cooks and helpers (Pachak-Pachika) under the Nikhil Odisha Madhyahna Bhojan Pachak-Pachika Rajya Sangha are staging a massive dharna at Lower PMG in Bhubaneswar. They have not received their honorarium for the past three months and are demanding immediate payment of pending dues. Their broader 7-point charter includes: salary hike with "equal pay for equal work," raising the retirement age to 62 years, reappointment of terminated/sacked workers, salary disbursement in the first week of every month, ₹1 lakh death/ex-gratia benefit as promised by the previous government, identity cards, pension/gratuity, and other long-pending facilities.
