Security heightened in Rajouri; J&K Police conduct vehicle checking, ask public to cooperate

The Special Operations Group (SOG) of the Jammu and Kashmir Police, along with personnel from the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and the Indian Army, are conducting joint patrols and inspecting suspicious vehicles. These measures are part of a coordinated strategy aimed at preventing any untoward incidents and ensuring peace in the region. Authorities are urging the public to cooperate with security checks and report any suspicious activity to the nearest police station. Notably, On April 22, Pakistan-sponsored terrorists killed 26 people in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, further escalating tensions. In the aftermath of the Pahalgam terror attack, security forces have intensified anti-terror operations in Kashmir, and tensions along the Line of Control (LoC) remain high. The government has given the armed forces complete operational freedom to decide on the mode, targets, and timing of India's response in the wake of Pahalgam terror attack. The government has also announced a series of measures, including putting the Indus Water Treaty in abeyance, to send a strong message to Pakistan for its support of cross-border terrorism. Meanwhile, the Union Home Ministry has instructed several states to conduct mock drills on May 7 to enhance civil defense preparedness.
