In this demo, I test how JasperNode handles a physical change to the industrial network that would typically crash a standard PLC configuration. The Scenario: I physically removed an EL1809 (Beckhoff Digital Input terminal) from the EtherCAT coupler (EK1100). This immediately caused a "Topology Mismatch" error because the physical hardware no longer matched the loaded configuration. The Fix: Instead of opening an IDE to manually rescan the bus and re-map the hardware, I simply typed: "fix the ethercat error". What the AI Agent did (Step-by-Step): Diagnosis: Queried the connector stats and identified the specific error: Topology mismatch: Physical network ≠ ENI configuration. Discovery: Ran a scan of the physical bus to identify the actual connected devices. Comparison: Detected that the EL1809 was configured but missing from the physical rack. Reconfiguration: Automatically updated the EtherCAT master configuration to match the current hardware reality. Verification: Restarted the bus and confirmed the connection was healthy with 3 slaves instead of 4. This capability allows electricians and technicians to resolve complex hardware configuration issues without needing deep knowledge of the underlying protocol or access to the original source code. About JasperNode: JasperNode is an industrial automation runtime with an in-built, AI-powered development environment. It bridges the gap between high-level AI reasoning and low-level industrial control protocols like EtherCAT, Modbus, and S7.
