In twilight depths, where colors blend, It seeks a love, a partner, a friend. With skin like silk, it changes, bright and shy, A silent call beneath the azure sky. Through forests of anemones it roams, Past waving fronds and shipwrecked homes. It meets a gaze, a fleeting, tender glance, But love, like waves, can vanish in a trance. In caverns deep, where sunlight’s touch is rare, It weaves through mazes with a gentle flair. Each flicker of its chromatophores' glow, A question posed, in currents’ gentle flow. It whispers in the language of the deep, Could you be my love? In dreams, I keep. But in the blue expanse, where shadows kiss, It swims alone, yearning for love’s bliss. Each year, large numbers of Giant Australian Cuttlefish (Sepia apama) gather in the waters off the coast of Whyalla, located in South Australia, during the winter months, typically from May to August. The males and females congregate in these areas to mate and lay their eggs. The rocky crevices and ledges offer safe places for the eggs to develop.
