ABRSM Stage is an online performance series led by our Artistic Director, Alexis Ffrench, that showcases musicians and musical artistry from around the world. It is part of our commitment to championing a life-long love for music, celebrating the rich diversity that music brings to our lives. ABRSM Stage invites our audiences to share in the sounds of up-and-coming artists, while giving us the opportunity to share with our audiences the music of more established acts. The National Open Youth Orchestra (NOYO) is a pioneering inclusive orchestra where brilliant 11-25 year-old disabled and non-disabled musicians rehearse and perform together. It promotes inclusion by performing exciting music written and arranged for a diverse group of musicians and instruments. It also works with venues to produce accessible concerts. The National Open Youth Orchestra runs five Regional NOYO Ensembles in Birmingham, Bournemouth, Bristol, Cardiff and London. These are led by its partners Midlands Arts Centre, B:Music, Services For Education, Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, Bristol Beacon, Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama, BBC National Orchestra of Wales and Guildhall School of Music & Drama, with the Barbican as a national partner. ‘Soaring Through Sparks’ is an original piece by Michael Betteridge, and is the first concerto written for the Clarion (theclarion.uk/) – an innovative, accessible instrument that can be played with any part of the body. ‘Wittgenstein’s Chorale’ was written by Ben Lunn, a disabled composer, for NOYO. Watch as the orchestra performs this piece at Lighthouse Poole as part of their 2024 concert series.
