On the way there we visited the Safa Masjid in Ponda and Madanant Devasthan temple in Savoi Verem. We took the Ponda-Apeval-Betqui-Savoi Verem-Marcela road. As we came from Margao, we approached Savoi Verem from the south. So we took a left turn here. Just follow the village road to Savoi Plantation. There is a sign here to guide you Sachin Shetye’s beautiful Savoi Plantation is maximum beautiful in the monsoon season. Just look at the lush green all around. It is such a pleasure to see all the plants at Savoi Plantation during the rains. They will take us for a walking tour and explain all the different spice, vegetable and fruit trees. The dining area is surrounded by a green curtain. Just chill and enjoy the greenery all around When we went they served us onion chips, pickled mango slices, urac, drum roasted cashews, kokum drink, fried bangdo (mackerel) and kingfish (surmai), Goan parboiled brown rice, plain rice, chapatis, chonneacho ros (chana gravy), hog plums/ambadeachi karam, local brinjal, tere (monsoon colocasia leaves), locally grown long beans, cucumber raita, kelful (banana flower), .raw banana, mango sasav, nirponnos (breadfruit) rawa fry, ameacha saat (mango leather), kesari rawa kheer, dhonnas (steamed jackfruit cake), squids, prawns, teesrio (shellfish), mutton, chicken, prawn curry with drumsticks, sweet pickle, spicy pickle and sol kari (kokum digestive drink). Maria really enjoyed the food over here. Both the veg and non veg was very tasty Jaya said the food, as always, was brilliant and she particularly loved the mango sasav and the plantation tour. So she highly recommends everyone to come and experience this place. Not just the food but the nature. It’s absolutely wonderful.
