This winter has taken a few unexpected turns, but it’s led me to one of the most beautiful places I could possibly be — Llangollen, here on the Llangollen Canal in North Wales. In this episode, I start the year by climbing up to the ruins of Castell Dinas Brân, exploring this quirky little Welsh town in the snow, meeting fellow boaters around a campfire, and learning (or attempting to learn…) how to pronounce Llangollen properly. I also share how I ended up here after a long year of plans changing — from launching my new boat, Jolly Roger, onto the River Weaver, being trapped there for months, getting craned back onto the canal network, and then finding myself paused again after a canal breach just before Christmas. A lot of people have been asking about the possibility of boats being craned out from Whitchurch while the canal is closed. At the moment, I’m not in a position to do that — I’m still paying for my last crane — and honestly, I’d planned to stay here until mid-March anyway. There’s still so much of this beautiful canal I want to explore. I’m also working hard behind the scenes to finish my music so I can finally release it on Bandcamp. It takes me a long time to get the mixes just right, but it’s something I’m actively working on, and I’m hoping any profits from that will help fund a crane later in the year. For now, I’m safe, warm, and in a place that feels like exactly where I need to be — even if it wasn’t the plan. Thank you so much for being here and for sticking with me. Here’s to a healthy, adventurous and joy-filled New Year for all of us 🥂 If you want to be craned in /out of the canal please contact Whitchurch Marina 01948 662 012 ------------ Thank you so much for watching. If you are new here, I'm Heidi and I live aboard my Narrowboat The Jolly Roger and travel the UK's Canals in search of Adventure. After selling my house to experience an alternative lifestyle I bought a canal boat and a camper van which as a solo female who loves to travel, gives me the best of both worlds. I have recently got myself a new addition to the crew, a fabulous companion - my little rescue dog Bonny who is an absolute joy and the perfect First Mate. I also work full time off grid from my floating home making badges and trading at canal festivals as The Narrowboat Pirate aboard The Pirate Boat. ----------- For more info such as Filming Equipment, FAQ and more: 🏴☠️ https://thepirateboat.co.uk 🏴☠️ ------------- You can also follow my adventures as the Narrowboat Pirate aboard The Jolly Roger, Pirate Boat here: 🟦 Facebook - / thenarrowboatpirate 🟥 Instagram - / thenarrowboatpirate ⬛️ Website - https://thepirateboat.co.uk ------------- 🎵 Music 🎹 The Jolly Roger by Heidi Manning Nip in the air by Heidi Manning The Thrusting Cutlass by Heidi Manning Plus Music from Epidemic Sound Get a Free 7 Day Trial of Epidemic Sound Here https://share.epidemicsound.com/d1a8w6 ------------ 🥃 If you would like to buy me a Rum you can do here : https://www.buymeacoffee.com/thepirat... ------------- 🅿️ Alternative way to buy a virtual Rum via Paypal : https://PayPal.me/TheNarrowboatPirate/ ------------- ❤️ Become a Patreon and long term supporter on the channel: The Narrowboat Pirate / thenarrowboatpirate ------------- #Narrowboat #canalboat #boatlife #Llangollen #VisitWales
