In Memory of Alzheimer's - Short Film

Instagram @larisajacono 'In Memory Of Alzheimer's' is a short film surrounding a young girl who has a mother affected by Alzheimer's disease. Throughout the film, we get to understand the pain and heartache that comes with having a loved one forget you. Towards the end of the film, the girl finds acceptance and is somewhat at peace with her mother's passing. Memory loss and sadness were the ideas that were conveyed throughout my film, as I wanted to raise awareness on Alzheimer's disease and dimensia in younger people, as most people believe this disease only affects the elderly. Most of all, Alzheimer's not only impacts the individual affected by it, but all the people who have a relationship with the individual, thus is why I decided to take the point of view of the daughter rather than the mother affected. This film is drawn from my personal life, as my grandmother was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease after she was involved in a motorbike accident. I witnessed the stages of memory loss she went through, and the drastic change in her personality that came with it. I wanted to convey this in my film and make it as authentic and raw as possible, as it was very important to me to portray this disease in an accurate way. Though the film is sad, I wanted to show the audience that there is hope, and anyone is strong enough to move on and accept the reality they must face in their lives.
