Red Rock Park is an incredible park in Gallup, New Mexico and is considered the crown jewel of Gallup's parks and recreational system. This beautiful park is 10 miles east of Gallup next to I-40 & only 2 hours away from Albuquerque. The park is located in the Church Rock census designated place. This is named after the famous Church Rock mountain located in the park. The designated place has a population a little more than 1,100. Red Rock Park opened up in 1972 as an state park at a cost of 6 million dollars. But in 1989 - the park was turned over to the Navajo Nation. Red Rock has a lot to offer with it's breath taking views of the beautiful New Mexico Mountains. Here are some of the facilities in the park: . Convention Center - The convention center has 5 available rooms for events. The convention center has an dining room , 2 conference rooms, and an large Auditorium. . Rodeo Grounds & Horse Stalls - The Rodeo arena is very popular in New Mexico. The park is home to events such as Wild Thing Championship Bull Riding, Best of the Best Rodeo, Lions Club Rodeo, and the famous Indian Ceremonial. The arena can hold up to 5,000 people. Motocross events are done at the arena also. . Museum & Park Office - The building is located next to the convention center. The museum is filled with Native American Art, rugs, jewelry, and pottery. . Campground - The park has 2 campgrounds. The main and the west campgrounds. The campgrounds have electric and water hookups, picnics areas, and on site bathrooms and showers. Listed are some of the main Attractions: . Wild Thing Bull Riding Championship . Kickers Arenacross . Annual Gallup Inter-Tribal Ceremonial . Hiking - enjoy hikes to either the famous Church Rock or to Pyramid Rock. Both hikes are considered moderate.
