Finding The German Alps (Zugspitze) IN A SNOWSTORM | Garmisch-Partenkirchen

We’re leaving the big city of Munich to travel to the small town of Garmisch-Partenkirchen in the German Alps. More specifically, we’ll be staying in the smaller town of Grainau. This will give us the chance to be close to the tallest mountain in Germany. This peak is known as Zugspitze and is a famous lookout point where you can see Germany, Austria, Italy, and Switzerland on a clear day. We also wanted to stay here because we would be close to Eibsee Lake, a beautiful body of water with a great hiking trail. Our day started with checking out of our Hilton hotel in Munich and taking the train into the city center. After that, we took a regional train that took us all the way to the Garmisch-Partenkirchen. We then had to take a third train to get closer to our hotel. During our 30 minute walk to our new hotel, we stopped along the way to admire the snowfall and the beauty of the town. We can already tell this will be the perfect place to stay for a while. We definitely made the right choice by choosing to visit the German Alps this winter.
