In this video I show you what causes social anxiety because we need to get to the root cause in order to overcome social anxiety. http://socialanxietyadvice.com/process Why do some people have social anxiety and others don’t? Well, the answer is hidden in our brain, more specifically in a part of our brain called amygdala. It’s this small part of our brain that causes social anxiety. Amygdala functions as a smoke detector. Whenever it perceives that you’re in danger it tries to warn you about that danger. The warning comes in the form of symptoms of social anxiety. We start blushing, sweating, and shaking. Our voice can change and we might even start to experience unpleasant feelings in our stomachs. These unpleasant feelings exist to warn us. When we feel the symptoms we get the urge to remove ourselves from that social situation and when we do remove ourselves, the symptoms go away. As you can see, the symptoms serve as some sort of alarm that warns us about social situations where we could get emotionally hurt. This alarm is obviously triggered by amygdala, which makes it logical to assume that it’s this part of our brain that causes social anxiety. However, what causes social anxiety is really something else. The real cause is based in your belief system. Your negative, limiting beliefs about yourself and other people trigger the amygdala to send you the warning signs in the form of the symptoms of social anxiety. Now that we know the real cause of social anxiety, we can finally start working on it.
