The road begins to stretch. Villages become sparse. The color palette shifts to earth, stone, and sky. By the time we reach camp, it’s different from anything before. A desert camp. No hotel walls. No city lights. Just open space and cold evening air. The Budapest–Bamako Rally starts to feel vast here. Not because of speed — but because of scale. This is the beginning of real distance. Midelt is not the destination. It’s the threshold. This is Day 20. The interior opens.
