This video shows a brief summary of how to use my open source Contraption filament winder to make a carbon fiber tube, including some details that might not be clear from the CAD. For more info on how to build your own winder, check out https://www.reilley.net/winder and https://github.com/reilleya/cyclone. I will be adding much more documentation to those pages soon to complement this video. This tube used my standard Epoxy Experts Max HTE epoxy and new-to-me Toray T800 24k tow. This was the widest tow I've used so far, and it brought more resin out of the bath with it than I was used to, leading to me having to scrape excess off of the tube during the process and return it to the bath each layer. I will probably try a thicker and/or stiffer rubber for the squeegee in the future. Still, between scraping excess off and heat shrink tape, the tube ended up in line with my previous ones.
