Having photographed the bride’s sister’s wedding, I knew we were in for a great day—and Eric and Allie did not disappoint. They were such a laid-back and fun couple to work with. Nothing seemed to faze them. Even when the rain changed our plans for outdoor photos, they took it all in stride, focusing instead on what really mattered: celebrating with their closest friends and family. We started the day with some getting-ready shots of each of them separately at the Fairfield Inn and Suites in Walpole, MA. One upside to overcast weather is the soft, even lighting it provides—perfect for capturing some beautiful portraits. You could really feel how much they love being together, especially in the emotional moment when they saw each other for the first time. My job is a lot easier when you genuinely enjoy working with the families. The rest of the day took place at the Saphire Estate in Sharon, MA. I always enjoy photographing Jewish ceremonies—the traditions like signing the ketubah, breaking the glass, and the hora are not only meaningful but incredibly photogenic. The rabbi, a longtime family friend, added a personal touch that made the ceremony even more special. The evening was filled with laughter, dancing, and fun. Toward the end of the night, we even made it outside for some great shots in the rain under an umbrella—one of my favorite memories from the day. It was the perfect mix of candid, photojournalistic storytelling and creative portraiture. I’m so glad I had the chance to be part of the celebration with them again.
