In this video I travel deep into eastern Afghanistan to Jalalabad and experience something I honestly did not expect. As an Indian travelling alone in this region I found that nobody wanted to take money from me. Not the taxi drivers, not the shopkeepers, not even the people who offered me food on the road. Every time I tried to pay they refused. The hospitality was genuine and overwhelming and it is something you only understand when you experience it on the ground. During my time in Jalalabad I also visited one of the most important and almost forgotten heritage sites of the city, the historic Gurdwara Guru Nanak Dev Ji, also called Gurdwara Pehli Patshahi. This shrine is believed to mark the visit of Guru Nanak in the early 1500s when he travelled across Central Asia and Afghanistan. Today the structure still stands as a quiet reminder of the Sikh community that once lived here. The atmosphere inside the gurdwara was peaceful and untouched and it felt like walking inside a piece of history that the world has moved on from. After exploring Jalalabad throughout the day I continued my journey further into Afghanistan. In the evening I boarded a bus to Kabul and began the next chapter of this trip. The road between Jalalabad and Kabul is known for its cliffs, river valleys and long history and it tells you a lot about life in Afghanistan today. This video shows the hospitality Afghans show to Indian travellers, real interactions with locals, my visit to the historic gurdwara, the forgotten Sikh history of Jalalabad, a full day exploring the city and the journey by bus from Jalalabad to Kabul in the evening. It also shows the reality of travelling independently across Afghanistan in 2025. If you want to understand Afghanistan beyond headlines, including the people, the culture and the daily reality, this video will give you that honest view.
