This song was commissioned by the Grace Hudowalski Charitable Trust to celebrate the centennial anniversary of the first two Adirondack 46ers - Bob and George Marshall - at their 2025 People and Peaks event. The Adirondack 46 challenge is to climb all 46 peaks over 4000’ in the Adirondack region of upstate NY, and it’s a journey I’m on myself with just 5 peaks to go! (I’ve documented every climb along the way if you want to read about it https://adktrailtalesandtails.com/adi... ) The lyrics emphasize the bond of brotherhood, the majesty of the mountains and their pull on us wandering souls, the importance of environmental conservation, and even a nod to the original native people of the Adirondack region (the last line is the original Mohawk word from which Adirondacks is thought to have come).
