Two children are safe after police found them wandering alone in single‑digit temperatures outside a Mentor hotel early Thursday morning. Their mother was arrested and charged with endangering children, and now says she is taking full responsibility. Mentor police say officers were called just before 12:30 a.m. to the Extended Stay America hotel on Emerald Court after someone reported seeing a 3‑year‑old girl alone in the parking lot. According to police body camera footage, the child was wearing only a sweater in 8‑degree weather. When officers located the child’s mother, Laura Beitler, inside the hotel, she told them she had been asleep and did not realize her daughter had left the room.
