120V LED Shop Light Conversion To 12V DC, How It Is Done

There are lots of cheap 120V AC LED shop lights and wouldn't it be nice to have them work on 12V DC without an inverter. These lights are mad up from strings in series and parallel to work on a higher voltage approaching line voltage. If you can figure out how they are arranged, they can be configured to work on your system battery voltage 12V, 24V or 48V DC without annoying flicker. This method of probing thru a resistor can safely help you figure out what they did. It is difficult to see the traces thru the protective paint, but a sharp probe will help you find the traces. Probing at side of LED will indicate grouping. A resistor should always be included to limit current unless LED is operating at a very low light level.
