Meanderings on Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/track/4keXPL... About Meanderings: Stylistically the song is classic Árstíðir territory with acoustic guitars and vocal harmonies at the forefront, and a folky-singer-songwriter vibe. The initial idea for the song was written in Nashville, Tennessee, by Árstíðir's piano player (Ragnar Ólafsson) who was traveling through the United States in search for inspiration in 2019. The lyric tells the story of a person craving freedom in the shape of a lover, but who only ever manages to go around in circles in his internal monologue and perpetuate the problem rather than getting to a conclusion. The title – Meanderings - is a reference to the song Across The Universe, by The Beatles, where John Lennon sings: “...thoughts meander like a restless wind inside a letterbox, they tumble blindly as they make their way across the universe” Meanderings is the second single to be released from our upcoming 7th studio album. The meaning of the word Meandering: meandering ... /mɪˈandərɪŋ/ to proceed aimlessly or with little purpose wander at random follow a winding course / Cambridge Dictionary lyrics I want freedom to come like a breeze in your auburn hair and when we forget ourselves then you know I will meet you there I want freedom to be as easy as closing your eyes a wave on the ocean when I promise to arrive with the tide I want freedom to be the light on your eyelids when I wake you with a touch and our story begins again Still I run away feel that I can't stay I can't see me part of your destiny We talk it all over and I wonder to what end we go on playing the same old game both knowing that this time I'll come back to you Two lovers astray and I love when you act that way The only thing I can say is that I never wanted you more I want freedom to be the thing you scream when you come in my arms And I want you free just like me I want your touch but not all of your time We talk it all over and I wonder to what end we go on playing the same old game both knowing that this time... But we talk it all over and and I wonder to what end that we're playing this same old game one more time and I wonder to what end Like the other day all I tried to say was that you are the only one I will ever m.i.s.s. credits released June 11, 2021 Written by Árstíðir Produced by Sakaris Emil Joensen Mixed by Magnús Árni Øder Kristinsson Mastered by Glenn Schick Performed by Árstíðir - pianos, guitars, ukulel, banjos & vocals Sakaris - percussion, keyboards & programming Magnús Øder - bass Skúli Gíslason - drums Artwork by Pieter Hoekstra
