This level crossing is located near the small village of Fenwick in quite a flat area, and dates back to the Mid-2010's. It formerly had a gatekeeper who only opened the gates when vehicles wished to cross and there were no trains signalled, but now it has lifting barriers which only close when a train is signalled and approaches. Indeed, this is another crossing that sees quite a few more trains than anything else, and it's fully kitted-out with a high-tech obstacle detection system which scans the crossing as it's typically automatically lowered on the approach of a train, as well as 'E2S' Appello alarms which are fairly loud compared to what you'd expect. The next public highway crossing north of this is not too far along the line, but a good 20 minutes' detour by road through the village of Askern! Without a doubt, this video's highlight catch is that of one of only a few Intercity 225 workings in a typical day that continue towards York rather than Leeds, this time formed of set NL (Neville Hill depot) 16 and hauled at the 'country' end by Class 91 101 "Flying Scotsman".
