Cancast series: Simpa Carter

Cancast is back! In this episode Carly chats to fellow activist Simpa Carter of The Simpa Life. They discuss policy concerns, access models, division within the cannabis community and how that can slow things down. On the final point, Carly says: 'Historically there has been an awful lot of division within camps in the cannabis space. No one disagrees on the end goal, but there are many routes to get there which is often where the disputes are. People have been let down and taken advantage of which breeds an energy of mistrust. Anger has been an understandable but destructive force in this area, realistically that energy could be channelled for good. If everyone took a breath and had a cup of tea - we would probably be much further along in the UK. Myself and Simpa have taken the first step to do this and have realised that we have plenty in common. With regards to other activists who may not agree with mine and the team’s work, you will never hear us dispute the importance of others' roles. I prefer to celebrate the efforts and energy others pour into creating and engaging with what they want to see change. I have nothing but respect for everyone who speaks their truth or acts from their heart. This is not a race for a crown, this is a team effort and everyones voice is important’.
