In this video we upgrade a BMW F87 M2 Competition from an AST Adjustable Lowering Spring kit (ALS) to a full AST 5100 1-way Coilover suspension system, complete with optional Adjustable Top Mounts. The customer originally installed AST lowering springs on the factory dampers, but as the OEM dampers began to fail, it became the perfect opportunity to upgrade properly. Rather than replacing the expensive factory dampers, stepping up to a full coilover kit made far more sense from both a performance and cost perspective. The AST 5100 kit offers: Adjustable ride height Matched performance dampers Improved chassis control Compatibility with optional adjustable top mounts for added camber tuning For anyone considering suspension upgrades on a BMW F87 M2, M2 Competition, F80 M3, F82 M4 or F83 M4, this is a common decision point - replace worn OEM dampers, or upgrade to a true coilover setup. EDC Considerations When removing the factory Electronic Damper Control (EDC), we can: Professionally code out the EDC system, or Supply and install a KW Cancellation Kit Both solutions prevent dashboard errors and ensure the car functions correctly after coilover installation. Precision Alignment - Done In-House Once installed, the car was set up with a full geometry alignment using our in-house Beissbarth Q.Lign 3D wheel alignment system. This is a critical step after installing coilovers. Having a professional 3D alignment system in-house allows us to accurately dial in camber, toe and overall chassis balance - something many installers cannot offer. Proper alignment ensures the car drives as intended, maximises handling performance and prevents premature tyre wear.
