Sponsored by @PCBWay: Ever have I wanted to have it back again, a HIGHSCREEN Colani Tower like my dad had back then. And so I finally managed to acquire one of these rare machines of 1993 fame by german retailer VOBIS. Let's relieve the past! Finally have I come by one pretty worn down machine on eBay, which didn't ask for astronmically fantasy money. It's propably because of that that exposed some blessures and imperfections, making a makeover an absolute necessity. Needless to say, it didn't go without some soldering, especially to swap the CMOS RTC chip against a modern-days reproduction. And if that weren't enough, I was thinking about a non-invasive way to recreate the missing side panel of the housing. 00:00 Intro 00:49 Inspecting the System 04:50 Cleaning Work 05:10 Minor Plastic Repairs 06:02 A Modern-days RTC Battery Replacement 06:47 Refitting a Hard Drive 07:32 Tidying up the Cabling 08:15 What about the missing Side Panel? 08:47 Conclusion Links: VOBIS: https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vobis VOBIS Ads ("Denkzettel") on Archive.org: https://archive.org/details/vobis-den...
