Welcome back :) There’s something truly magical about flying from Hawaii, especially when it’s in All Nippon Airways (ANA) First Class aboard the majestic Airbus A380 “Flying Honu.” This was my return flight from Honolulu to Tokyo-Narita, and from the moment I stepped onboard, I knew I was in for something extraordinary again. ANA’s First Class on the A380 combines refined Japanese elegance, privacy, and world-class service, creating a journey that feels more like a peaceful retreat than a flight. The First Class suite is an oasis of comfort. Spacious, beautifully designed, and equipped with everything you could possibly need for the long flight to Japan. The seat easily transforms into a fully flat bed, with soft bedding that makes crossing the Pacific feel effortless. Once in the air, the catering experience truly shined. ANA’s First Class dining is always impeccable, and this flight was no exception. I chose the Western menu. Superb, with premium ingredients. Paired with vintage champagne and fine wines, every bite felt like dining in a five-star restaurant above the clouds. And of course, the crew was everything you’d expect from ANA. Gracious, polished, and genuinely caring. Their quiet efficiency and warm smiles made the experience seamless from start to finish. Shoutout to Miss Tanaka, she was simply wonderful. It’s no wonder ANA’s service has the reputation it does; every gesture reflects true Omotenashi, the art of thoughtful Japanese hospitality. If there was one disappointment, it was the ANA Suite Lounge in Honolulu. While the space offered calm and comfort, it lacked the premium feel and variety one might expect before such a luxurious flight. Good thing, though. Direct board from the lounge Thankfully, once onboard, ANA more than made up for it. Reminding me why their in-flight experience remains among the best in the world.
