Leaving Walhalla in the Vic High Country after a fair bit of rain over night, and heading for more steep Vic High Country 4x4 tracks like Burgoyne Track on the Macalister River. The 4x4 tracks in the Vic High Country can change very quickly after rain. The steep tracks in the Walhalla area needed to be treated with a great deal of respect at any time of year, but even more so after rain. I really enjoy driving in steep country. The 4x4 tracks in the Vic High Country just go on for ever, with amazing views at the tops of the mountains. The next morning we pack up camp beside the Macalister River, and head back up Burgoyne Track, to take on the crossing of the Macalister River. At this time of year, the Macalister River River crossing can be deep and fast flowing, testing out both the driver and the 4x4. The Vic High Country has so much on offer, from long steep 4x4 tracks, river crossing, mountain views and great camping spots.
