Here is my third real test of using a 48V 1.3 kWH Li-Ion battery bank made from recycled 18650 cells, powering a Reliable brand 1500W pure sine inverter to charge my Nissan Leaf via the stock 120V EVSE. This time I was able to get ~69s of charging before the battery banks dropped below 43V triggering the inverter's low voltage cutoff, due to the cells being cold (started at ~5 C). I gave it a second try, and it was able to run for ~26 minutes after the batteries had warmed up (voltage actually rose for a while due to self-heating after reaching a minimum at ~88s). I terminated the test after the cells exceeded 65 C (safety limit is generally 60 C). Once again this shows the battery bank is undersized, and could use active cooling (will use forced air cooling with a 120mm computer fan next time). Next test will be with a fourth pack in parallel (14s16p). Details about the setup can be found on the Second Life Storage forums here: https://secondlifestorage.com/t-48V-1...
