QUETICO / BWCA: Autumn in the SouthEast Quadrant!

We have two weeks during the latter half of September to traverse the international border, through the Knife Lake / OtterTrack corridor into Jasper and Saganagons, which combines some of the most interesting history of the region with the starkest spectacular cliffs in the park. . . And then meet up with Tom, who is an expert Quetico paddler that I actually met through this channel. He’ll be based on an island in the northern part of Saganagons, along with three other paddlers. From there, I’ll turn back west and solo travel and fish through a variety of lakes before entering the Man Chain–and then beautiful Carp Lake–as we work our way back to the tow boat pick up at the start point. One of my favorite features of traveling the international border is the variety of interesting folks you meet along the way, before entering the interior where solitude is the goal. . .
