Most people I've talked to at Guelph lake prefer to run this as a downhill segment, West to East. But I don't think that's what this trail is really about. As a downhill, it's a pretty shallow grade (1.5%), and the obstacles are minor. I wouldn't take a five or six inch travel bike to this trail and expect to get my pulse up. Now, doing a cross country style sprint Up and East, is where it really gets interesting. As I mentioned above, the trail is a shallow grade down going West, and Up going East. When you choose to go East, that slow upward grade makes you keep working for it. If you stop peddling, you slow right down. That's not to say going fast on this trail is as easy pushing hard on the pedals. There are a number of sharp turns throughout, and if you hit them too fast, you'll wash out. And don't fall into the trap of getting your heart rate into the max zone early on this one, the hardest part is right at the end. The grade gets steep and the winding turns continue right up to the last 100ft. Trailforks: https://www.trailforks.com/trails/dev...
