The Carl Goldberg J-3 Piper Cub has been converted to electric power with a 4S 500KV brushless motor and a 60A Turnigy ESC, running a 4S 6400mAh LiPo. It originally used a 12x6 prop, now upgraded to a 13x8.5 for improved performance. Flight Review: Take off from the grass into a circuit climbing out and demonstrating a no rudder turn then a rudder-assisted turn. The second pilot in this flight is Scott who takes control right after I perform the loop at (2:05). Scott keeps a stable altitude performs turns and circuits and once he is dialled in does a long gliding descent with the undercarriage footage showing the prop slowly spinning down. I take back control at (4:10) and do a low pass followed by a grass strip touch and go shortly after. There is a bit of rubbing on the right wheel which will be fixed with a spacer to separate the rubber from the support arm on the main gear. The final landing from the north was clean with the tail flying on touchdown and still within rudder authority. Landing tail-dragging at that speed works nicely on grass but would be harder to pull off on tarmac. After the onboard footage, I show two highlights from the ground the touch and go and the full stop landing both smooth as butter.
