A2B via Sea was part of history as Brittany Ferries veteran BRETAGNE made her LAST EVER voyage from Saint Malo in the Brittany region of France to Portsmouth UK. Serenaded onboard by a pipe band, an emotional farewell was received by Saint Malo tourist boats and the Condor Ferries fast craft Condor Voyager sounding their horns as we progressed into the English Channel for the final northbound voyage towards Portsmouth marking the end of an era. Onboard current and former ship crew made presentations, signed posters and chatted to passengers over complimentary drinks. Bridge visits, complimentary pancakes, live music and quiz games kept passengers entertained during this mournful sailing. On the approach to Portsmouth Ferry Terminal we were joined by two tugs firing their water cannons into the night sky illuminated by floodlights; fireworks ignited over the city and mooring alongside Brittany Ferries Salamanca dressed overall, horn blasts were exchanged. Within the terminal a fantastic live band serenaded passengers into the Cruise Terminal Departure Lounge for their embarkation for their LAST EVER southbound sailing back to St.Malo Meanwhile, A2B via Sea dashed to the Southsea waterfront to witness the final departure; escorted out of the port by tugs and watercannons, passing the inbound Mont St.Michel from Caen horns and salutes broke the otherwise silent night sky.
