Microsoft Excel Tutorial: Remove Extra Spaces from VLOOKUP table with TRIM Welcome back to another episode of the MrExcel netcast! In this video, we will be discussing how to trim VLOOKUP tables in Excel. As we all know, dealing with massive amounts of data can be overwhelming, but with the help of Pivot tables, we can easily analyze and solve complex problems. VLOOKUPs are a common tool used in Excel, but what happens when they go wrong? In this video, we will address a common issue where the lookup value in the table array has trailing spaces, causing the VLOOKUP to fail. But fear not, we have a solution for you! Our viewer, Rod from Cincinnati, has brought up a great question about dealing with trailing spaces in VLOOKUPs. He wonders if there is a way to handle this within the lookup formula itself, instead of manually deleting the spaces in the table array. Well, Rod, we have the answer for you! In this video, we will show you how to use the TRIM function to remove all the extra spaces in the lookup table. This may not be the most efficient method, as it will trim all 54 values for each record in the left-hand side, but it gets the job done. And for those of us who use VLOOKUPs just long enough to copy and paste the results, this is a quick and easy solution. So, if you frequently encounter this issue with trailing spaces in your VLOOKUPs, this video is for you! Thank you to Rod for the great question and thank you for tuning in to another netcast from MrExcel. Don't forget to hit that like button and subscribe for more Excel tips and tricks.
