What a surprise to find Long-fin tuna in the same area as yellowfin, bigeye and bluefin tuna. While chasing bait ball frenzyes we stumbled upon one where the birds were behaving quite different from what we’ve been seeing around. I jumped in, immediately diving down as fast as possible like I usually due in this kind of hunting and at about 85 ft I got into a shoal of Long-fin tuna where I was able to take one. Next dive, exactly the same scenario with the same result. Ended up with tow beautiful long winged barrel shaped tunas. 70 lb & 68 lb (32 kg & 31 kg). My Riffe Bluewater Elite performed flawlessly during these super deep and long shots.
