Fortune found his big break when he was discovered by and began to tour with the Statler Brothers. During this time, He wrote the group’s second No. 1 hit, “Elizabeth,” on their 1983 album Today, and followed that with two more No. 1 hits: “My Only Love” and “Too Much On My Heart”. Fortune also wrote the Top 10 hit “Forever” and co-wrote the top-10 hit “More Than a Name on the Wall”. The group was later inducted into the Gospel Music Association Hall of Fame and the Country Music Association Hall of Fame. Jimmy Fortune started a solo career after The Statler Brothers retired in 2002. As a solo artist, he has released 8 albums, one of which, Hits & Hymns, reached No. 10 on the US Country charts. He continues to write, record, and produce today, and still tours extensively.
