Special appearance by photographer/videographer ‪@Elizabeth-Gadd‬, whose work inspired this journey. ✅ Trip Overview Day 0: Vancouver → Golden Day 1: Lake O’Hara (11 km fire road hike + Opabin Prospect) Day 2: Bow Lake, Peyto Lake, Mistaya Canyon, Parker Ridge, Columbia Icefield Day 3: Lake Louise, Big Beehive Trail, Abraham Lake sunset Day 4: Moraine Lake, Takakkaw Falls, Emerald Lake Day 5: Wapta Falls → Vancouver ✅ Park Pass Requirements A Parks Canada Day-Use Pass is required for Banff and Yoho National Parks. You must print and display it in your vehicle. Purchase here: https://www.banfflakelouise.com/park-... ✅ Practical Information by Location Lake O’Hara • Day-use bus lottery opens in March (only ~3,000 seats per summer). • Without a reservation, hike the 11 km fire road to the lake. • Return buses from Le Relais Shelter (to the parking lot): 9:30, 11:30, 14:30, 16:30, 18:30. • Best chance for a seat is at 16:30 — two buses depart at this time. • Fare: $15/person, cash only. • Le Relais Shelter: snacks, hot drinks, carrot cake (cash only). Lake Louise & Moraine Lake Shuttles • Personal vehicles are not allowed at Moraine Lake. • Shuttles run from the Lake Louise Park & Ride: 1 Whitehorn Rd, Lake Louise Ski Resort, AB. • Shuttle tickets use one-hour arrival windows — show up anytime within your hour. • Lake Connector Shuttle runs 7 AM–7 PM, letting you move between Lake Louise and Moraine Lake without an additional ticket. • Your ticket includes return service back to the Park & Ride. Big Beehive Trail (Lake Louise) • Distance: 10 km out & back. • Passes Mirror Lake & Lake Agnes Tea House. • Trail is quieter after the tea house. Icefields Parkway • One of the most scenic drives in Canada. • Quick stops: Bow Lake, Peyto Lake, Mistaya Canyon. • Parker Ridge can offer glacier views — weather dependent. • Columbia Icefield area is extremely windy and cold; dress accordingly. Yoho National Park Takakkaw Falls: ~250 m drop, easily accessible. Emerald Lake: stunning color, easy walk around the shore.
