Utah residents advised not to panic buy despite potential rise in grocery prices

The port workers strike along the East and Gulf Coasts might not have lasted very long, but economists in Utah said there will still be ripple effects that we may feel at the grocery store. Luckily for us, economists don’t believe the impact will be as severe in Utah as it will be in other states. However, every time there’s any disruption in the supply chain, grocery prices inevitably rise. Suppliers for stores like Stan’s Market in Kearns saw the strike coming before it happened, so they stocked up on extra inventory to avoid any kind of supply problems. Still, shoppers like Michele Fitches didn’t want to take any chances. She remembers the nationwide toilet paper run in 2020.
